A Day in the Life of... a Monday

I am home on Mondays, but my job requires me to stay connected - I often have conference calls and from time-to-time have to go in for meetings. It makes for not the typical day at home, but it works to have this time with my girl. Here is a peek into one of our Mondays:

The day started about 7 a.m. However, Elyse just chatted away in her crib and I didn't get her until 7:30. I think we both enjoyed the extra half hour before beginning our day.

Someone was ready!

We took a bath first thing. She gets so excited when we tell her it is time for a bath. "Bah???" I stripped her down, she ran into the bathroom and when she heard the water running, she couldn't help it. Oops, she pottied. I had just cleaned it up - the look on her face was priceless!

Bathtime with Mama in the big tub.

The aftermath of yesterday's cute hairdo.

She really likes watching get her hair done. She stands on her stepstool and brushes her teeth or plays with one of her combs. Today - it was fascination with a hairband itself.

Time to check the phones.

Start a load of laundry. 8:17 a.m.

Yummy breakfast to keep the girl entertained while Mama goes on an 8:30 conference call.

Eggs for breakfast for workweek.

Emptying the dishwasher.

Pulling clothes out for folding.

My Aunt was in the hospital for a few days and this is a DQ cup I'd brought home from a day at the hospital. Elyse carried that thing all over the place when I got home. And as you can see, it hasn't met its fate just yet.

She loves books. She will bring them to us - "boo?" wanting us to read to her.

Baskets are fun to empty.

Time to fold laundry. 9:39 a.m.

We almost thought we couldn't go to playgroup as we were waiting for our propane guy to show up (we were really low). We decided to go ahead and go. 10:25 a.m.

She slept a bit in the car. She was a little sleepy at first when we arrived at Kelly's, but soon dug right in. Somehow - all the kiddos fit in one frame.

Kelly keeps pacifiers for Lydia to play with and it was funny to see all of the little ones playing with them too. Elyse would chew on it and then give it to her baby. She carried this baby doll around the entire time we were there - that and a plastic milk jug toy that she would feed to her baby.

Olivia really likes her picture taken - cute girl.

Time to head home. I expected to have a sleeping girl when we pulled in the driveway. Nope, still awake! 12:45 p.m.

It was naptime though. She chatted for about 15 minutes and then there was quiet. I made a sandwich.

Picked up the propane bill off the front door - OUCH!

Did some work.

Garbage time. Time to consolidate all of the bins in the bathrooms and take the garbage and recycle out.

More laundry...

Garbage to the curb - can you believe how sunny it was today?

Feed the pets.

Make iced tea.

Hang clothes to dry.

3:15 p.m. Conference call. Elyse is still asleep so iced tea, phone and monitor - good to go.

4:00 p.m. Somebody's awake and not happy.

Headed outside with doggie = happy!

Good, loud, belly laughter.

They were having fun.

Baby laughter is the best!

Libby got tired. So Elyse found a bucket to put "stuff" in.

Pretty proud of herself.

I don't know what Chucky has to do with all of this.

But, Chucky came to get me!

Cute girl.

 5:30 p.m. Daddy's home!

Must sit at desk too like a big girl.

Helping Daddy clean up.

Daddy made yummy pulled pork quesadillas for dinner!

8 p.m. Love and snuggles from Dad before bedtime.

And there you have it. A day in the life of a Monday around here. Not a lot of rest, but a GOOD day and ones I'll cherish always.

Love,

C
