Day in the Life: Monday, September 30, 2013

I'm a blog-lover. I love reading stories of real life families. "Day in the Life" posts are some of my favorite. Pink Pistachio just posted this one which some might roll their eyes and say, "How perfect is her life?" I can just tell she paid less attention to documenting her day and more to capturing a pretty photograph each hour. I do love it. Another one is this one from My Life in Transition. I love Julia's blog and feel like she is very real in capturing her family's everyday life. I always love when I see one of these posts.

Here is a peek into one of my Mondays with Elyse. All captured from the iPhone - no messing with the big camera today. Just keeping it easy.

7 a.m.
Coffee. Still loving the Keurig and still trying to zero in on a favorite. I like this bold, deep roast Peet's Coffee - Major Dickason's Blend.

iPad.
Work e-mail and blog reading in Feedly. Great way to start the day.

Go check the back patio. What I was not able to capture is that it is absolutely pouring. Wow.

Leftovers from the night before's two-hour power outage.

Toast with amazing strawberry/fig preserves we got in Eastern Washington.

8:30 a.m.
Somebody's awake. She even has a dry diaper! Yahoo!

Breakfast.

9 a.m.
Makeup and more coffee.

9:30 a.m.
No photo op of our frustrating part of the day.

Elyse and I were scheduled to get our flu shots at the same time - a recommendation of our nurse. One of the bonuses of seeing a family practice doctor.

We arrived, checked in and were about to sat down when the receptionist says, "We are out of the pediatric influenza vaccination. When do you want to reschedule Elyse?" I look at her in surprise and say that I will call to reschedule. I turnt to walk away and she says, "Wait, what about you?" Grrr...

We are set for a re-do this Monday.

9:45
New pit-stop. Cash and Carry.

I'm still set on trying a Dirty Diet Coke. Grocery store hasn't carried coconut syrup and Amazon had it for $15.99! Sugar free at Cash and Carry - $3.49. Yeah, baby!

10 a.m.
Play group at Geoff and Nate's.

The good news is, we take turns, so all of have a round getting our house equally as trashed. All in good fun!

These kids are too much. Love them.

1:30 p.m.
Elyse is down for a nap and I have some leftover baked potato soup. With some lingering visitors.

2:15 p.m.
Time to mix up my drink.
WOW. Just wow. It is so good. And no, you don't need the cream. YUM!

Start putting together lunches for the workweek.

2:45 p.m.
Brown bananas only mean one thing.

Hard boil eggs for breakfast.

4 p.m.
Elyse wakes up a little early than normal. Cinderella wants to smell the banana bread. Obviously!

It's a good batch - with chocolate chips because it is Daddy's favorite.

Cinderella baby love.

4:30 p.m.
We had a big due date at work, so we went in to visit Bobbe so Mommy could sign about a gajillion pieces of paperwork. In the 20 minutes we were there, Elyse was given two stickers, a temporary tattoo, two suckers, a donut, a PB/jelly sandwich, a cookie and a piece of chocolate. Besides the cookie, none of the items were wholly consumed, but still! No wonder she likes coming to Mommy's office!

And the other favorite was when she announced to our IT Manager as we were waiting for the elevator, "I pooped!!" Yes, Bob can't look at me now without snickering. So funny!

5:15 p.m.
Back at home, Elyse plays with her playhouse while I vacuum out the car.

5:45 p.m.
Bill gets home from work and eats dinner - Geoff sent us home with his freshly smoked ribs. We took a picture to send Geoff of the happy results!

6:30 p.m.
Elyse looking out the window and says, "I want the flowers back!"
We're all a little sentimental of the end of summer.

6:45 p.m.
Snuggles.

7:30 p.m.
Bath time for Mama. Used the last drops of my luscious coconut and cream bubbly bath wash. I ordered this book fromPaperback Swap and first cracked it open in the bath and dug in deeper that night under the covers.

Do not read this book at bedtime. It has had my mind reeling all week. 15% of your gross income toward retirement (not counting employer match)?! Aye...

On that note, that's the end of my day.

Next time, I'll use the big camera.
