Week 40: We Made It!

Week 40: Baby is the size of a watermelon.

Baby is now ready for life in the real world. The final details of her physical appearance are in place and completely formed, including her eyelashes, eyebrows, nails, nose, and mouth. We'll likely even need to trim her nails right away! Her internal organs are fully matured and ready for life outside the womb. Her eyes are well-formed, but the nerves inside her eye will continue to develop in the first weeks after birth. It is not until she is six to eight weeks old that she can focus and follow objects with her eyes.

We cannot believe we'll be meeting our little girl any day now. We had our non-stress test today and everything looked great. They monitored my contractions (not too strong) and her heartbeat in response. They said everything looked "perfect".

The plan is we are scheduled to go in Sunday night to get Cytotec to soften the cervix. The Pitocin induction starts Monday morning at 8 a.m. Again, it is possible we could get bumped depending on staffing, how many mothers in active labor have already been admitted, etc. We'll let you know right away on here if something changes and/or if we go into labor earlier.

Until then, we hurry up and WAIT!

Oh gosh! It's here! Good luck, girl! Waiting is never fun... But, enjoy the decent weather we're having this weekend if you can. You look great at 40 weeks! Oh, and I totally have that pink cover for my Droid too! :)
